Things You’ll Need

  • CO2 regulator
  • CO2 tank
  • Carbonator cap with ball lock fitting
  • 1/4″ threaded full port ball valve
  • 1/4″ braided vinyl tubing
  • Hose barb adapters 1/4″ by 1/4″
  • 9/16″ hose clamp
  • 3/4″ plastic pipe clamps
  • 1/2″ teflon tape
  • Rubberized snap in tire valve
  • Crescent wrench
 

 

  1. Making Carbonation Machine

    • 1

      Wrap Teflon tape around three barb adapters in the same direction as they will be screwed in. Screw two of the adapters into each end of the full port ball valve (which is the shut off valve) and tighten with a crescent wrench. Screw the remaining barb in the carbonator cap. Depending on where the shut off valve is to be placed, cut the braided tubing into two pieces. Place the hose clamps about 1/4 inch from the ends of the hoses. Tighten the clamps so they will not slip. Push each end of the tubes onto each end of the shut off values. Each end of the value should be connected to a different tube. Push the other ends of each tube into the regulator and rubberized snap in tire valve. Tighten all hose clamps.

      Connect the regulator to the tank. Each regulator comes with its own wrench for connecting to the tank. Make sure the flat washer is in place before putting on the regulator. If the regulator states not to use a washer when connecting, remove the washer from the tank. This will depend on the regulator used.

      Turn the shut off valve perpendicular to the hose, which should turn it on to full. Adjust the regulator screw, located on the CO2 regulator, until the pressure showing on the gauge is between 45 and 50 psi. Listen for any leaks from the machine. If needed immerse the system in water to find any leaks.

      Install the system into your home. The tank can be stored anywhere. The only requirement is it cannot be stored horizontally.

    Using the Machine to Make Carbonated Water

      Fill 2 liter bottle 3/4 full of cold water. The colder the water the better the CO2 will dissolve into the water. Attach carbonator cap and push out all the excess air from the bottle.

      Attach rubberized snap in valve. Turn the shut off valve to the on position. The bottle will fill back up. While still attached to the tubing, shake bottle quickly back and forth to aid in CO2 dissolving for 20 seconds. Remove snap in valve. Shake bottle for another 20 seconds. Shaking again will dissolve more CO2 and lower the psi within the bottle.

      Pour and enjoy. Tightly cap the remaining sparkling water.

The Third International Conference on Duplex Stainless Steel in TISCO

 

Third international conference on duplex stainless steel was held in TISCO on 25th, Nov. 2009. The specialists and representatives from China Special Stainless Steel Association, International Nickel Association, International Molybdenum Association, TISCO, Baosteel, Outuconpu (Finland), Yongxin Special Steel, Wujing Stainless Steel Pipe and so on attended the conference. Li Xiaobo, Chairman of TISCO, Hu Yuting, President of TISCO, Cai Zhiyong, Deputy President of TISCO, and Lin Qizeng, associate director of TISCO Directorate Planning Committee participated in the conference.  The conference was presided by Li Cheng, standing president of China Stainless Steel Asscociation.
     
The aim of the meeting is: developing international communication, promoting international co-operation and pushing application for duplex stainless steel in various fields. Fourteen specialists of duplex stainless steel from home and abroad were invited to make academic reports, which dealt with the new development of scientific research and introduced the experiences of product-making and welding technique.   
 
Li Xiaobo delivered a welcoming speech in the meeting. First of all, he welcomes the specialists and representatives on behalf of TISCO and hopes to share the latest scientific research fruit and what we have learned to put forward the research and development of duplex stainless steel into a new stage.
     
Regarding TISCO research and popularization in duplex stainless steel, Mr. Li pointed out that duplex stainless steel has good characteristic of growing. TISCO has roughly serialized it during research and popularization, and made some fruits in effectively substitution for the imports. In the future, Tisco will focus on how to better solve the technical problem during research and developing duplex stainless steel to accelerate its popularization.
     
Mr. Li emphasized that we all work in stainless steel and its related fields. No one takes more care and love on stainless steel cause than us. No one expects the cause of stainless steel has better perspective than us, which is our common responsibility. Performing the responsibility not only needs stainless steel enterprises to push the industry upgraded through healthy, orderly  competition and cooperation, but also the organization such as association to create good developing environment and conditions. Further more, it needs experts’ innovation, enthusiasm and intelligence.
  
Li Cheng delivered a conclusion speech, which comprehensively analyzed and elaborated international and local research, development, production and popularization of duplex stainless steel. He said, presently, on the international side, the development of duplex stainless steel has more experience and bigger achievement on process and popularization. And many kinds of duplex stainless steel grades have successful been developed and applied, which include economical type, super type and super-special type suitable for blue water gas field and petrochemical as well as meeting special demands. On the local side, the development of duplex is running afterwards. Some newly-developed grades (2205 and 2507 duplex stainless steel) have successful been applied into the CMC dryer in manufacturing chemical product ship and coke oven battery.
 
Mr.Li pointed out that the development of duplex stainless steel, whether conditions or demand potential , has begun to enter a stage of actively popularization, especially in meeting industry development. Currently, there is a case of adopting economy type duplex stainless steel   2101 as city safety route way from abroad. We can make a further research.
     
Mr. Li emphasized that our enterprises should learn foreign experiences of cold-rolled sheet and welding pipe to satisfy the need of city beautification. We not only popularize cheap and fine ferrite steel (such as 439,441,443 and 444), but also should take it as alternatives as it has a good and low cost performance.     
 
Mr.Li hopes to set up a platform through the conference to further know and learn international advanced experiences of development and popularization for duplex stainless steel and increase the belief of developing duplex stainless steel.
